Salmon in the Courthouse fundraiser

Two local artists are teaming up for a North Olympic Land Trust fundraiser that is to result in artwork for the entry of the Clallam County Courthouse.
Darrell Charles Jr. and Clark Mundy will create a 2- by 6-foot carved western red cedar and hammered copper plaque depicting swimming salmon.
Charles and Mundy are donating the art to North Olympic Land Trust. [Al Charles Jr. later joined in the artistic collaboration.]
The Land Trust is inviting people to make donations in any amount, both to be part of the celebration and to provide funds to help the Land Trust protect more salmon habitat and other special lands.
At the end of the fundraising project, the Land Trust will give the artwork to Clallam County for installation in the Courthouse entry.
Donations of any amount are welcome and appreciated. Donors of $100 or more will be recognized on a plaque in the Courthouse.
A similar project two years ago resulted in the gift of a sculpture by Duncan McKiernan to the City of Port Angeles. The sculpture, depicting an early-day logger, is displayed in the entry of City Hall. That fundraiser yielded more than $2,100 for the Land Trust’s work.
