Help Put Salmon in the Clallam County Courthouse
The copper and cedar piece “Elwha Return” (shown left) which is permanently on display in the Clallam County Courthouse, Port Angeles, Wash., offers a way for donors to create a lasting tribute to people they care about while reminding everyone how important it is to work together to protect qualities that make our area a great place to live, work and visit.
Local artists Clark Mundy, Darrell Charles Jr. and Al Charles Jr. have donated their cedar and hammered copper work, “Elwha Return,” to North Olympic Land Trust as a fundraiser that celebrates partnerships and helps this private, nonprofit organization continue protecting special lands. (See news feature about the “Elwha Return” dedication, to take place Feb. 8.)
The Land Trust helps bring together many individuals and groups to protect habitat for salmon and other wildlife, farmland, sustainable timberland, clean water and air, scenic vistas and open space, and historic areas.
Donations of any amount are welcome. Each donation of $100 or more entitles the donor to a listing on a Courthouse plaque. Listings can be of the donors themselves or individuals, businesses and other organizations they want to honor. Memorial gifts will carry the names of those people being honored.
