How You Can Help - Financial Contributions
In the last 50 years, we have lost 75% of the farmland in
Clallam County. We continue to lose over 1,000 acres per year
due to unchecked growth and suburban sprawl. The Land Trust
created this fund to protect important agricultural land in
Clallam County, thus preserving these treasured rural
landscapes, healthful local foods and important economic
benefits. Our special Farmland Fund focuses on saving the area’s highest quality agricultural lands. Farmers rarely are financially able to donate development rights that might enable them to have a more secure retirement if sold for residential or commercial development. Their lands may be their only “pension plans.” So it may be necessary to purchase development rights on agricultural land in addition to paying all the other costs related to a conservation agreement. The Land Trust created this fund to protect our vital Clallam County agricultural land, thus preserving our rural flavor while promoting healthful local foods and important economic benefits. We also work closely with Friends of the Fields, a local nonprofit organization that focuses on protecting agricultural lands in Clallam County. North Olympic Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization. To donate a tax-deductible gift to this fill out the form below or contact us for more information. |
