NOLT Board Officers Announced

  North Olympic Land Trust’s Board elected officers at its monthly Board session Thursday (April 29).Re-elected were Gail Tate, president; David Morris, vice president; and Dave Hurd, treasurer. Jim Aldrich was elected secretary.

A physical therapist at Therapeutic Associates who established the company’s predecessor, Angeles Physical Therapy, Tate’s board experience includes serving as president of both Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts and Northwest Rehabilitation Alliance, a group of 150 physical therapy clinics, as well as secretary of both the Port Angeles Food Bank and Washington Physical Therapy Private Practice.

A past superintendent of Olympic National Park, Morris serves on the local YMCA Board and volunteers with Peninsula Dispute Resolution Center. After 37 years in the National Park Service, he became a Peace Corps director in Zambia, Africa, for several years.

Aldrich was president of Friends of the Fields when it merged with the Land Trust earlier this year. He retired to Clallam County in 2005 after more than 30 years of involvement geologic investigations that included mapping soils in Alaska, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico for both environmental assessments and neotectonic studies. He taught at North Carolina State University and Allegheny College. At Los Alamos National Laboratory, he led the Earth and Environmental Sciences Group, was Program Manager of a $16 million project, conducted basic research on southwestern U.S. geology and geothermal studies in Central America and southwestern US. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 32 years, with four years of active duty, and has worked as a volunteer with churches and Habitat for Humanity.

Hurd is a Certified Public Accountant with Garnero Smith Hurd & Miller, who will be serving his 20th year as treasurer of the nonprofit organizations.
