StreamFest Changes Date and Adds Cooking Demos Rob Casey - Salmon Smolts

StreamFest activities will be on one day – Sunday, Aug. 30 – one weekend before Labor Day Weekend. During most of its 10-year history, StreamFest has been on the weekend after Labor Day weekend, and for the last two years it has been on both Saturday and Sunday.

Land Trust Executive Director Greg Good said focusing on one day should be much better for everyone – restaurants providing the StreamFest Smorgasbord, booth hosts, nature walk leaders, musicians and other volunteers.

“StreamFest also is a great opportunity for friends to get together and others to get acquainted, and a one-day event contributes to this good fellowship,” he said.
Some favorite StreamFest elements already are in place, and planners are working to add new features, as well as improve traditional ones, Good said.

Joy Siemion, owner of Joy’s Wine Bistro, is coordinating the StreamFest Smorgasbord for the second year. She plans to showcase local foods and restaurants again.

One new feature will be demonstrations of how to prepare seasonal local foods from Port Angeles Farmers Market vendors. Already signed up to do demonstrations is Mike Shethar, who will finish his studies at the Culinary Institute of America in May after a four-month internship with Nash’s Organic Produce.
