Our original Martin Luther King Day of Service (Jan 20) was canceled due to snowy conditions. However, we are pleased to announce that this event has been rescheduled for Presidents Day!
We invite you to join the Land Trust for a day of service on Monday, February 17th. We are excited to be partnering with the Port Angeles School District’s AmeriCorps Program to take part in a community service project aimed at maintaining the school garden at Port Angeles High School. Weather-related updates or cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page.
The Land Trust is looking forward to contributing toward this project, and we hope you are too! Creating opportunities for youth to engage with the land (and connect with local food) is an important part of fostering a responsible land ethic among the next generation. If you would like to volunteer with us, please sign up via the online form below.
What to bring:
Organizers of the service project will provide materials, but here are some things to bring, if possible…
- Warm, weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes.
- Work gloves
- Water and a snack (optional)
- Tools (rake, shovel, etc) – some tools will be provided, however it would be helpful for volunteers to bring additional if possible
- Anything else you need to be comfortable working outdoors.
Volunteers will meet at the high school at 10am and are welcome to participate for any amount of time.
