| Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our latest Second Saturday Stroll, a Salmon Stroll with Olympic National Park! We had such a great time getting to know all the lovely anadromous fish enthusiasts who joined us last weekend. We walked away with a deeper understanding of how restoration, salmon ecology, and scientific study intersect, and what they can teach us about the Elwha and its importance to the ecological, economic, and cultural life of our region. We would especially like to thank Olympic National Park Fisheries Biologists Henry Gould and Christine Lipsky, who generously donated their time and expertise to make this event possible ![]() Photo from the Stroll courtesy of Ian Coughran |
Thank you to everyone who came out to learn, ask questions, and spend a Saturday with us along the Elwha!September is one of the busiest months for salmon ecologists as many salmon are spawning in the Elwha Watershed. Our group was lucky enough to see runs of salmon making their way upriver, giving a real-time example of their last life stage.
